MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Undertaking clinical procedures in Accident for Emergency, Wards, Clinics and Outpatient Centers.
  • Initial patient management, assessing, stabilizing and determine the disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services.
  • Providing care to patients in the intensive care setting in conformance with unit policies.
  • Making decisions regarding immediate management and further referral of patients.
  • Conducting ward rounds on daily basis.
  • Enhancing evidence-based practice.
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality and professional work ethic.
  • Carrying out on the job training for mentorship of Senior Registrars in the specialist recognition program and Medical Officers in the clinics and wards.
  • Facilitating continual medical education sessions.
  • Participating in major disaster management.
  • Participating in research, developing clinical protocols, and facilitating CME.
  • Championing continuous quality improvement in clinical practice and service delivery.
  • Advocating for patients and champion continual improvement.
  • Ensuring all standards are met including quality of care, turnaround times, effective communication amongst and quality customer service amongst others.
  • Participating in on-call.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery
  • Master of medicine in Paediatrics or other recognized board-certified equivalent qualifications
  • Pediatric Advanced Lile Support (APLS) certification.

 

Professional Qualification

  • Does not require Specialist Recognition.

 

Job Experience 

  • Previous working experience in a busy hospital.

 

Membership

  • Valid registration and annual practice license.
  • Registered with Kenya Medical practitioners and Dentist Board.
