Dr. Cynthia Omina Kanda

Dr. Cynthia Omina Kanda is the Head of Clinical Services, in charge of AAR Hospital’s healthcare ecosystems, enhancing clinical governance as well as ensuring highest healthcare quality.

With over a decade of experience in the medical field, she has expertise in both clinical and operational domains, enabling her to adeptly align healthcare facilities’ strategies with their clinical and business objectives.

Dr. Omina joined AAR Hospital from The Social Service League, M.P. Shah Hospital, where she held the role of Deputy Chief Medical Officer.

Throughout her career, she has demonstrated proficiency in operational leadership, strategic execution, risk management, and quality assurance, while fostering team empowerment. She is particularly passionate about value-based healthcare delivery models, emphasizing the provision of high-quality healthcare services that are financially accessible. Earlier in her career, Dr. Omina also held the role of Healthcare Manager, AAR Healthcare. She has also held positions of Technical Advisor on the CDC-funded ECHO Project with ICAP at Columbia University, and Quality Improvement & Patient Safety Officer at Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu.

She holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of Nairobi, a Master’s in Public Health with a Major in Management of Health Systems from the University of Liverpool, UK, and a Master’s in Business Administration in Healthcare Management from Strathmore Business School. She has been recognized with various accolades, including being a Young Executive Leader in the Internal Healthcare Federation Cohort 2022 and a participant in the WomenLift Health East Africa Signature Leadership Journey 2024 Cohort. She is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
