PRESS RELEASE
Nairobi, Kenya.
AAR Hospital has launched specialist paediatric service clinics to meet rising demand for children healthcare.
The clinics, to be run at the Kiambu Road-based hospital, will offer a wide array of services ranging from regular check-ups and vaccinations to health screenings for children of all ages to promote early diagnosis and treatment of childhood diseases.
“Children have unique physiological and psychological needs that differ from adults, the pediatric clinics will have specialized pediatricians, equipment, and age-specific treatment protocols,” said Dr. Cynthia Omina, the AAR Hospital Head of Clinical services.
The increased demand for pediatric healthcare comes amid growing cases of childhood diseases, congenital disorders, and developmental delays, prompting the need for specialized services.
Early intervention has been proven to significantly improve long-term health outcomes.
Until launch of the specialized clinics, AAR Hospital previously offered a limited range of pediatric services.
The new specialized services at the level 5 private hospital will however feature at least 11 pediatric clinics.
They include Dermatology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Neonatology, Neurology, Haemato-oncology, Surgery, ENT, Cardiology, Endocrinology and Nutrition.
“AAR Hospital’s pediatric services stand out for their holistic, patient-centered approach, combining advanced technology with compassionate care,” said Dr. Omina. “We emphasize on a team-based approach where pediatricians, specialists, surgeons, and mental health professionals work collaboratively. This ensures comprehensive care for each child, addressing both physical and emotional needs.”
Neonatal screening and pediatric hearing assessment services will involve testing newborns and young children for hearing impairments. Early identification of hearing issues is critical for speech, language, and social development.
AAR Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) will offer advanced care for newborns who require intensive monitoring and treatment, while pediatric surgery will deliver surgical interventions for children, ranging from minor procedures to complex surgeries.
Child and adolescent psychology will offer support for mental health issues such as anxiety, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and depression, while the emergency pediatric care will handle acute conditions or accidents that require urgent treatment.
“We have invested in the latest medical technology to provide cutting-edge diagnostics and treatments, such as minimally invasive surgical tools, and advanced neonatal care systems,” said Dr. Omina.
